Culturing Change in Lab Testing: Webinar

This engaging webinar will kick off a series of cross-Canada events focused on using lab tests appropriately.

With a significant number of medical decisions being influenced by lab test results, governments, health care administrators, and clinical and lab associations are turning their focus to ensuring lab tests are used appropriately. When lab tests are over-ordered, patients may undergo unnecessary interventions and investigations. Conversely, when lab tests are underutilized, patients may be misdiagnosed or receive inappropriate treatment, potentially leading to adverse health outcomes and an increase in future health care resource use. There is a desire across local, regional, provincial, and national jurisdictions to optimize the use of laboratory tests to maximize patient care and to ensure efficient use of increasingly limited health care resources.

You will learn about:

  • How CADTH supports the optimal use of lab tests
  • The need for lab services optimization
  • Examples of localized efforts and successes in lab test optimization
  • The need for the whole health care team to be part of the solution
  • An exciting series of upcoming national and local lab test events across Canada.
