CADTH Lecture — How to Advance Gender Equity

Despite evidence showing that greater gender equity is better for health policy-making and patient care, gender inequity remains a problem in Canadian health care. This lecture will explore the occurrence and consequences of gender inequity in medicine and academia, present why gender equity is important, and provide strategies to promote gender equity, such as behavioural or systemic change, targeted interventions, career flexibility, increased visibility, recognition and representation, mentorship and sponsorship opportunities, and financial support.
