Social Media in Health Care

February 17, 2015

This event is presented by the New Brunswick chapter of the Canadian College of Health Leaders. Register now.

Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay, and the normally cautious field of Canadian health care is embracing it.

But what does it mean for health care leaders and decision-makers? When there aren’t enough hours in the day to keep up with email, how can you find time to delve into social media and take advantage of the value it offers?

This webinar will give health care decision-makers a crash course in the basics of social media. We’ll begin by covering the mechanics of some of the most popular social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We’ll follow that with a look at the social media landscape in New Brunswick and across Canada, and provide insight into the individuals and organizations who have successfully “gone social,” including executive leaders, hospitals and health authorities, health care media, patient communities, and advocacy groups.

Whether you are an avid tweeter with a long list of LinkedIn connections, or a complete novice with no experience on any social platform, and whether you are interested in engaging in social media for yourself or on behalf of your organization, this webinar will give you practical tips and a better understanding of social media in Canadian health care, with a special look at trends in New Brunswick.

Our guest speakers are experienced social media community managers who have helped CADTH — a pan-Canadian agency dedicated to delivering evidence on drugs, medical devices, and procedures — build an engaging online presence.
