Point-of-Care Troponin Testing in Patients with Symptoms Suggestive of Acute Coronary Syndrome

Last updated: April 8, 2015
Project Number: OP0519
Product Line: Optimal Use
Result type: Report

CADTH undertook a health technology assessment (HTA) to inform decision-making about the appropriate use of point-of-care (POC) troponin testing. The HTA addressed the diagnostic accuracy, clinical utility, and cost-effectiveness of POC troponin testing in patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Optimal use recommendations were developed based on the evidence presented in the HTA report, as well as other considerations, such as implementation and ethical issues. The project had three key components:

  • Protocol
  • Science report
  • Recommendations
